One thing I appreciate about South Asian designers like Mani Jassal and Stella Simona that fuse Eastern with Western wear is that they’re not afraid to take things a step further. Not only does that take true mastery of their craft, but an understanding of risk and reward.
Sharin and I too wanted to take a risk while sporting these looks at LA Fashion Week. I over exaggerated the MAYA fringe bustier with some ridiculously oversized bottoms while Sharin gave full attention to her fringe SHAKIRA top with a sleek bodycon layered underneath. Each look was topped off with complementing neck pieces from Haati Chai.
So what was our reward?
I’d say it was the satisfaction of successfully blending cultures for not one–but two looks.
